Chemistry Career experience/location:

Worked in environmental research at the University of Puerto Rico Humacao under the supervision of Dr. Rolando Tremont.

Description of career experience (what I learned):

I have been working with differents solutions, reading it pH while is been titrated with some other, such as sodium hydroxide. I improved on the use of certain instruments.

What is your perception of agriculture now?

Even that I am new in this program, I can say that my knowledge had grown and that I have acquired a new way of thinking about the environment and agriculture.

How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities?

This experience has increased my concern about the environmental contamination and I have learned to use different techniques to analyze samples. Knowing about these

techniques can open doors in different laboratories.

Career and research aspirations:

I aspire to finish my Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry, in a year. After getting my degree I will look for a job, so then I can pay for my Masters degree in

environmental chemistry. In 10 years I see myself with an stable work and with my own family.

Skill Set:

Bilingual(English/Spanish)- computer(Office 2010)-leadership-spectroscopy-titration-pH meter-extraction- liquid chromatography-disection of animals-responasable-efficient-punctual-charisma.

The impact of my career experience:

Having the opportunity of being part of this program had impacted my life in big way. I can say that I considered different fields in chemistry, that wasn’t from my interest.

Now I would like to continue my studies in the enviromental field. I will share my experience with new people to create in them curiosity, to make them think and open their

minds to a different world. Also I will keep doing research, help others with their own research and help them to achieve their goals.
