Description of career experience (what I learned):
Our research was focused on the analysis of the water from the beach Villa Pesquera in the town of Isabela.
What is your perception of agriculture now:
Agriculture plays a crucial role in the life of an economy. Agriculture not only provides food and raw material, but also employment opportunities to a very large
proportion of population; more specifically of major importance in PR agriculture, those provide production, processing, marketing and distribution of crops and
livestock products. The technologies provide important feature to acquire more efficiently the better products in the agriculture.
How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities:
These techniques, such as recrystallization techniques, melting point, distillation, boiling point, column chromatography, extraction and refractive index, can open doors in
research laboratories related to agriculture and help us to provide more information to acquire the better result in the agriculture.
Career and research aspirations:
I aspire to finish my Bachelor degree in Biomedical Science. Once I finish my degree, I would like to continue with graduate studies and acquire more knowledge in scientific
research, which is what really interests me, within the next five years and I will like to find a job in at USDA or any other location. In 10 years I would like to be a group
leader and have a career that allows me to develop my knowledge of scientific research. I also aspire to help other students who want to establish their careers in areas
related to the science.
At present, I am working with recrystallization techniques, melting point, distillation, boiling point, column chromatography, extraction and refractive index, also worked
with culture media and the extraction of the interested microorganisms. I have also made different types of stains such as Simple staining, Gram staining and differential
staining in which I use them to identify microorganisms.
The impact of my career experience:
I am convinced that this research has given me more experience in which I developed my leadership skills, improved my professional skills and increased my knowledge in
research for my professional growth. This research has taught me to understand a variety of techniques and intrumentation in which I can use in my future employment.
