Description of career experience (what I learned):

I worked in a material science laboratory in which we test structural and compression characteristics of sintered recycled glass designed for the remediation of polluted

soils which help me learn every day thorugh daily experiences .At the laboratory we make samples and take data of compression samples and percolation.

 

What is your perception of agriculture now:

Agriculture is essential for the world and with all the technology and research that is currently developed in universities we are benefiting by its impact.

 

How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities:

Experience working in labs and familiarization with equipment helps me open doors in the future employment and the knowledge about these techniques can open doors at

USDA.

 

Career and research aspirations:

I aspire to finish my bachelor degree in mechanical engineering within the next two years . In the next 5 years I would like to graduate wity my MS degree in mechanical

engineering and find a job at the USDA. I would love to work for the future of agriculture.

 

Skill Set:

Good communication skills, in English and Spanish. Prepared to work in different computer Software’s such as AUTOCAD, Word, Excel, Power Point and Mat Lab.

 

The impact of my career experience:

The reseach experiences at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez campus has given me the necessary skills to become a experienced scientist in the near future.I did

research in gathering evapotranspiration data using different procedures and making a more efficient method of measure. Test structural and compression characteristics of

sintered recycled glass designed for the remediation of polluted soils Working with the Globe Program has help me work with K-12 students giving them workshops and

making them think in there future carrerjobs.In the future I know that working with students, labs and working in different reasearch will help me grow and in any future job.
