Career cxperience/location:

Worked in a reseach internship at UPR Aguadilla under the supervision of professor Llinil Torres.

 

Description of career experience (what I learned):

I worked on bioremediation in the fishing village of Isabela beach. We performed different tests at different points around a drain pipe. In the laboratory we performed a pH

test, alcohol test and other tests to measure the pollution in the different areas and compare.

 

What is your perception of agriculture now?

It is essential in our daily lives. Without agriculture our society will not be able to survive.

 

How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities:  N/A

 

Career and research aspirations:

I aspire to finish my B.S. in biology within the next year and apply to a graduate school. In 10 years, I would like to have my own clinical laboratory.

 

Skill Set:

Bilingual-English/Spanish-computer literate-Microsoft Office 2010-proficient in microbiological and spectroscopical techniques.

 

The impact of my career experience:

The reseach and professional experiences I went through have given me the necessary skills to become a competent scientist in the near future. I learned to use many

methods of research experiments, laboratory techniques, techniques of academic improvement and provide assistance to other students in tutorials.These experiences will

prepare me to compete in any area related to my primary research. My long term goals are to have my own clinical laboratory and continue doing researsh.
