I will have the opportinity this year to go on an research internship with the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and NARS. I also have been working at the reseach laboratory
of Dr. Felix Roman under de mentorship of PhD student Victor Fernandez.
Description of career experience (what I learned):
I have been working in the use of magntitic nanoparticles and human hormos studing their interaction with plants. I have use instruments such as HPLC for the analysis. I
hope that this summer 2014 I will learn new things, in order to grow in intellect and to perfectionalize my laboratory and resarch skills. I believe that this experience will be
enriching and that I will excel in this program.
What is your perception of agriculture now?
Agriculture is essential in our lives; we need agriculture in order to live. It is very important to foment the importance of agriculture to our society since without agriculture
we would not be able to survive. We must support agricultures and try to help in the development of new technologies to increase and advance in agriculture.
How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities?
I hope that this new opportunity will open me more doors in future internships with any USDA Agency, since it will help me learn more about chemistry research. Career
and research aspirations Looking forward to the future, my long term goal is to be admitted to graduate school and graduate with excellent grades.
Fully bilingual; excellent skills in writing, reading, and speaking in both, English and Spanish. I am very good in teamwork and also in leadership. Excellent experience in
communication skills, also very fluent in it. Been awarded for my writing skills, as in essays, papers, and poem writing. Familiarized with internet researching, and also with
computer programs such as Microsoft programs like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarized with laboratory technologies and skills such as HPLC-DAD,
nanoparticle synthesis, hydroponic systems, dilutions, plant germination, and of zero charge.
The impact of my career experience:
I love to go on a summer internship, where I could acquire more laboratory, teamwork, and working skills; throughout this experience to be an exceptional professional in
the future. Also to be able to participate in many USDA internshios and coops in order to grow as a future profesional. This experience is hepling me to grow as a person, in
intellect and professionally. It has been of a huge impact in my career experience, I have taught many things and develop many skills thanks to the USDA fondings. I have
been working on a reaserch lab, using nanotechnology in hidroponic plants, through this, helping and contributing to the develpoment of technology in agriculture. This has
been a great experience that I will never forget and it has been of huge impact in all the acpects of my life.
