Career cxperience/location:

UPRM Chemistry Department (Dr. Lopez-Moreno, PhD.) Evaluation of the toxicity and impact of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles (NPs) on the growth and development of the edible

Solanum Lycopersicum plants. Catalase activity (CAT) in tomato plants by Spectrophotometry and nutrient quantification by ICP-MS. Evaluation of the plant protein

content by the Bradford Assay and analysis of the impact of the NPs on the plant tissues.

 

Description of career experience (what I learned):

The use of the following instrumentation and techniques: UV Spectrophotometer, FTIR, Plant Material Digestion Methods ( microwave) and ICP-MS utilization, Plants

growing at hydroponic systems, Six Sigma Green Belt for Process Improvement Certification.

 

What is your perception of agriculture now?

Agriculture is the base of any society. Agriculture provides food, clothing and many other essential needs so people can have a better quality life. Agriculture provides jobs

for a lot of people in the United States and around the world. As science research student I have the mission of promote and work hard for the sustentation of this important

research area.

 

How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities?

I learned about agriculture science, including plants tissues, soils, composting and many others areas. It also allow me to work as a research student and learned about

laboratory methods and instrumentation, oral presentations and scientific reports. All these experiences will go to be very helpful for my future employment opportunities.

 

Skill Set:

• Fluent in Spanish and English.

• Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

• Knowledge of GDP & GMP.

• Working knowledge of SAP software.

• Eng. Study, RACC & Validation procedure knowledge.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Basic knowledge in AutoCAD, MATLAB & Minitab.

 

Career and research aspirations:

In the next two years I hope to have a career opportunity related to the food industry. As I work as researcher I want to complete my master in this agriculture important

area.

 

The impact of my career experience:

Agriculture is the main step of the food production. As CETARS reaserch student I had the opportunity to understand and work with: plant growing process, nutrition

components on plants tissues, soil and compost effect on the sowing, and many other aspect. This gave me an idea of the importance and the impact of agriculture as part

of my future carreer aspiration.
