Worked as a Soil Conservationist at the USDA- NRCS at Anderson, South Carolina under the supervision of Mike Banks.
Description of career experience (what I learned):
I was able to learn about natural resources conservation practices including how to prepare conservation plans, work with GIS and other programs to develop the entire
plan. I was also able to visit farmers and assist them in the office.
What is your perception of agriculture now:
Agriculture is very important in every aspect of our everyday life. It doesn’t matter in which field we are, there are always a way to get involve in Agriculture. A country
must relay in Agriculture not just as a way to survive, but also as the way to be self-dependent and to provide food security for the entire citizens.
How has this career experience broadened your employment opportunities?
It has helped me develop a network within the USDA agency and in the development of research, leadership and personal skills.
Career and research aspirations:
I will pursue my PhD. at Ohio State University in plant pathology. My future goal is to work for the USDA-ARS Agency in the United States or Puerto Rico. I will also like to
work for the University of Puerto Rico as a professor if the USDA job is not available.

The impact of my career experience:
My experiences through the years have teach me skills that will be beneficial to my carreer. Learning not just about research techniques but also about how to create
network between fields and between people is the key for succes. I have work in many areas where collaboration between people is very important in order to develop more
efficiant project in less time. I have also learn to expand my limits, traveling to different States far from home. I have also improve my English exposing my self to
internships in United States.
